Jan Bauer began her tenure in December 2016 opening the first official UK Government Office and as the first permanent UK Consul stationed in Minnesota.

Reporting to the UK Consul General in Chicago, Ms. Bauer is the UK Government’s local representative in Minnesota. This solo-office supports the UK’s commercial, economic and political relationship in Minnesota, and develops and maintains key Minnesota business, political and academic relationships, creating opportunities for collaborations. Ms. Bauer works closely with several other UK Government colleagues across the US network and throughout the UK including the Department for International Trade, the Science and Innovation Network and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.

Jan’s previous experience includes teaching International Management in Concordia University in St. Paul and Director of the Small Business Development and International Trade Center in Illinois. She received her BA in International Relations from St. Cloud State University, and earned an MBA from Walden University.
